James “Scott” Williams of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Sunday June 2, 2019 after reaching the age of 78. He died peacefully at his home surrounded by family.
Scott was born on May 30, 1941 in Dodson, Texas. He attended school in Erick, Oklahoma and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Weatherford, Oklahoma. He moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1963 and taught at Paramount Terrace Elementary school till 1977. Scott changed careers in 1978 and sold insurance as an independent agent till his death.
Scott considered himself to be a jack of all trades and master of none. He wrote books, quilted, painted and remodeled his own home. He completed a wooden ship, a stagecoach, and a Coca Cola quilt last year. Cooking was his passion and he made a chocolate pie that was truly incredible with meringue that was a mile high. Handmade Christmas cards were a trademark of his artistic flair.
Scott was a founding member of the Risky Business Investment Club and was also involved in dinner and game clubs. He loved to socialize and was friends with everyone he met. He was always there to give advice, encouragement, and help.
He is preceded in death by parents Raymond and Evelyn Williams of Erick, OK and Great Grandson Adrian Flores of Amarillo, TX.
Scott is survived by two sons Eric Williams of Capitan, NM and Toby Williams of Colorado Springs, CO from wife Evelyn Williams of Amarillo, TX. Siblings; Whitney Williams of Jonesboro, AR, Carol Lint of Lake Forest, WA, Tonya Ownby of Glenpool, OK, Mark Williams of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mikolyn Franks of Lexington, OK, 11 Grandkids; and 18 Great Grandkids.
A celebration of Scotts life will be held Saturday June 22, 2019 at 2030 Crockett St. Amarillo, Tx. Doors will open at 10:00 am till the last person shows.
The cremains will interred on Sunday June 23, 2019 at a time to be determined in Erick Cemetery in Erick, Oklahoma.
