Wayne Warren, 95, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday at Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church, 914 W. Colorado Ave. with Elder Jeremiah Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Wayne was born May 9, 1923 in Gilmer, Texas to Frank and Delitha Warren. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII, and earned a purple heart. He married Margaret Cannon on January 10, 1944. She preceded him in death in 2011. Wayne worked as a surplus foreman for 10 years, retiring at the age of 45 years old. After that, he worked as a rancher and a business owner. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He and Margaret enjoyed traveling in their RV, and were members of the Good Sam RV Club. Wayne was past president of Lion’s Club, and a member of Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Warren; a daughter, Nancy Kropog; a son, Ronnie Lynn Warren; a sister; and five brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Harrison of Amarillo; a son, Butch Warren of Amarillo; a brother, Bob Warren of Amarillo; two sisters, Marydell Duncan of Lawton, OK, and Annette Smith of Midland; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Amarillo VA in Wayne’s honor or Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church.
